About the Role

The Social Media Assistant will maintain and update all project social media accounts and answer app enquiries and emails. You will also create graphic images and videos when required and log statistics, carry out online surveys and measure success. You will also be involved in other similar duties as required within the broader organisation.

Working with a staff member or from home. The candidate will help Cue and Review Print Speaking to the Blind communicate their various events through all aspects of Social Media. This involves Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts, improving our existing Facebook page, engaging on Twitter to a wider audience and social networking with other agencies.

Essential skills required would be an excellent knowledge of social media; other skills include; confidence, creativity and flexibility

Social media is a powerful tool to celebrate the great work we do and the candidate will help us take this forward. You will have a passion for social media and be creative with an eye for detail, you will also be computer literate and ideally, have some experience of graphics editing and video editing. We would look for good written and communication skills and the ability to manage time effectively and prioritise workloads

About the Company

The needs we fulfil : There are over 1.7 million registered blind people in the UK but many others who have some sight, still have difficulty in reading, especially the small print that much information is presented in. We fulfil the following needs: A) Preparation and transcription of commercial and government literature into audio formats. B) Provision of work experience through Employment Service programmes since 1985 and also through the School Work Experience programme (Over 1000 long-term unemployed, able bodied and disabled people have benefited from this). There were 428 blind and partially sighted people registered in East Dunbartonshire in 2010 and 34,492 registered in Scotland. The RNIB advises that there are a great many more people who are not registered and put the number closer to 188,000 people in Scotland and 1.7 million in the United Kingdom.
