Led a team that has raised approximately £ 2.5 million in 40 years. Secured an additional £440,000 mortgage from the Bank of Scotland and Social Investment Scotland for our enterprise arm (Bishopbriggs Media Centre). Achieved Investors in People and Positive About Disability Charter marks. Was in the first group to achieve the Postgraduate Certificate in Voluntary Sector Management from Caledonian University in 1995, achieved the City & Guilds Adult Trainers Award 1990. Attended small business courses run in conjunction with Strathkelvin Enterprise Trust and Dunbartonshire Enterprise. Named Strathclyde’s Community Businessman of the Year in 1988.
Founded the charity in 1982 while a Prefect at Bishopbriggs High School and continued as Chairman while studying at Central College of Commerce, Glasgow. On leaving college continued to work part time for a local superstore, while working with the Glasgow Volunteer Centre to produce the application for the MSC Community Programme funding for a full-time Cue and Review training programme. On being appointed as its first full time supervisor he began to develop the charity as it is known today.
