Ongoing

Our Board meets six times a year and each session equates to two hours preparation and a two-hour meeting.  Meetings are conducted virtually using MS Teams to ensure representation from across Scotland, with some discussion out with meetings taking place in a private Facebook group, excel and word reports are emailed out.  Applicants should therefore be comfortable using these formats.

Applicants are encouraged to visit our About Us page and read our Volunteer Handbook to gain an understanding of the organisation before applying.  There are opportunities for Board members to attend training and to become more involved with the work of the charity.

You will complement the range of skills and experience of our existing Board members.  The most important quality that we are looking for is a genuine interest in supporting the transcription of print to audio for visually and reading impaired people.

You will have professional or personal knowledge of some of the following; good governance, working with a diverse team, understanding of inclusivity in all its forms, podcasting, issues around accessibility to print materials or using Myriad recording studios.  We are particularly keen to receive applications from people who are visually impaired or people who have one or more of the following skills:

  • Financial Planning

  • Fundraising

  • Human Resources

  • Information Technology

  • Legal (charity, company, H&S)

  • Social Care sector experience

  • Online Training experience

  • Communications/ Media/PR / Digital / Marketing

  • Volunteer support.
